Second Week of Training

Sunday, August 12, 2018

Monday
Today was an excellent run! I did intervals on the treadmill. Five minute warm-up at 3 mph, and then alternated at 4 mph for 2 minutes and 5 mph for 1 minutes for 30 minutes, then 5 minute cool down at 3 mph, all on a 1% incline.

I didn’t have a belt loop or a pocket for my keys while dog walking, so bra strap it is!

Tuesday
Today’s Body Pump class had me thinking I’d broken my biceps. I do love having stronger arms.

Wednesday
Wednesday has somehow become my run the neighborhood day. It works well! I can see how my speed is doing when I’m not on the treadmill. I tried to swim at home after my run, but a persistent wasp drove me out of the pool. I managed 15 minutes and then I just packed up and went to drop my stuff off at this week’s overnight job. I did my dog walks and went to the gym to use the elliptical, then back to my overnight for the rest of the day/night.

Thursday
Crossfit was kind of boring today because we were just testing our max weights and pull up / push up reps. I had one dog walk today after the gym and then did childcare in the late afternoon. My overnight dogs were relieved that I came home in time for dinner.

Friday
I was busy for a rest day! After making sure my overnight dogs were fed and walked, I did childcare for another regular client, then had a couple dog walks, and then back to my overnight.

Saturday
I started my period and just wasn’t quite up to trying to really run today, so I opted for some intervals and inclines.
I got home from work about 9:30 last night and fell asleep close to midnight, which is way too late for me.

Sunday
I played hooky from the nursery today. I’m burning out and I just couldn’t do it. I went to the gym instead and burned off some anxiety. I also forgot my laptop at a client’s last night and he text me to let me know. We scheduled a time for me to pick it up and right around that time it started POURING rain. Maybe it’s a good thing I grew up in Houston? I’m so used to flooding and hurricanes. It’s funny. I’ve been taking care of this client’s dogs for a year now and today was only the second time I’ve ever seen him. Another client was kind enough to give us a futon they aren’t using anymore and delivered it this afternoon. I finally got to introduce his daughter to my dogs. For some reason, Luke was upset though. I think maybe it’s the weather? The poor dog hasn’t been quite right all afternoon.

Overall, this week has felt kind of overwhelming. After being gone from Wednesday morning until late Saturday night, I came home to all dirty dishes and no clean dishes (seriously, not a plate, bowl, fork, or spoon). They’d eaten take out almost every night I was gone. My wife’s laundry basket is STILL sitting on the coffee table and has been for AT LEAST two weeks. I’m exhausted and overwhelmed. And I haven’t been able to sleep without a sleep aid in almost a week. No matter how tired I am, I’m just too keyed up to sleep. I wear myself out so much between work and training and I still can’t get my anxious mind to shut off. I’m so tired. I can’t recall which night it was now (Thursday or Friday night), but I had a panic attack in my sleep and I was in a sort of “low key” panicked daze for the rest of the day. It’s been a rough week I guess. More so than I realized.
