‘Girl’s Got Goals!!

Sunday, July 29, 2018

What girl? THIS girl!! I’m fired up & in beast mode with training right now. I am training for the Savannah RnR, and then another marathon the following month, with a 50k also scheduled in December, and I’m very excited about what this training season will bring for me in terms of improvement!

My training plan consists of 5 days of running (some of those are just easy short runs) and 3-5 days of Strength Training - I am doing Jamie Eason’s LiveFit workouts from on my own schedule, so not really according to her schedule. Ultimately, I would REALLY like to qualify for Boston 2020. To do so, I would need to shave about 10 minutes of my marathon PR, which I ran 4 years ago, then subsequently took a long break from full marathons. But I still love running, so continued running half marathons, just not the full.

I still haven’t reached the # on the scale that I would like, but I am SOOOOO close, and the scale is NOT my main focus. It certainly does not represent a full picture of my health & fitness, and I know this. So signing up for these races has nothing to do with a weight goal. My goal is to stay lean, strong, and INJURY FREE! And I have done some serious reading on fueling & hydration for women athletes from different sources, particularly this book...

So my focus will be (and has been thus far) to fuel like a BEAST while I train like one too!

Yesterday, I had an amazing 15-mile run that felt really good! Yeah I was a little fatigued at the end, but I actually picked up the pace for the last half mile or so, and I recovered quickly afterward, and had a good deal of energy all day long... And that is after a hot, humid Florida run.

But today will be a nice rest day!! A hear a big fat nap calling my name this afternoon!! I will rest and recharge, and be ready to tackle my workouts tomorrow!

Join me on my training journey this season!! And keep crushing your own goals, Sparkers!!
