Protein vs. Nutritarian

Thursday, July 26, 2018

I've been reading Dr. Fuhrman's End of Diabetes book and decided to work towards eating this way. I have had positive results with weight loss, blood pressure and blood glucose readings.

I am working towards getting off the blood pressure and BG medications. Those are my main 2 goals at this point. I think weight loss will come as these two health issues get better.

At the same time my brother is eating a high protein method. This has worked for him in the past. We had a discussion about this today at the hospital as we were waiting for my sister-in-law to come back from having an angiogram. (She had good news . No carotid blockage.) So we will share how we are each doing. One of the areas we discussed was the sustainability of eating either way. We talked about how we will probably tweak our plans so we will be happy eating this way and our respective spouses will not feel deprived. They are both very supportive, by the way. It will be good to bounce ideas, struggles and successes with someone. We have set a time on Saturday morning to go walking and geocaching. He will be starting to workout at the Y where I currently work out.

So much of this is choice. And it is nice not to be alone in doing this. Thanks to all Sparkers who share their thoughts.
