Banish Guilt

Saturday, July 14, 2018

I'm going to try to change my dialog

from:

I'm trying again. Starting again. Resuming. blah blah blah

to:

Giving a push

That's it. Just that I'm giving it a push right now. Doesn't hold any negative connotations. No guilt about yesterday. Just that I'm giving things a push. Pushing to log food. Pushing to pay attention to my steps and my spoons. That sort of thing.

And as of yesterday, I'm giving a push. I like the feeling :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH! THIS IS A PERFECT PHRASE TO USE.

You could even say, Today, I am giving a push."

Hey old friend, a little push is something we can give each other too! I know, I know, I have been MIA a long time but I'm back I think. Spark People was replaced by Facebook and my new technology for a bit. I finally have my own phone plus an I-pad and Mac. This summer I took on tech savvy and feel a mix of brilliant and like a giant faker. Ha!

I have a very very long and unedited blog I just posted. The part that might interest you is the brain wave stimulation. They treat people with autism as well as PTSD. Fascinating stuff. Of course very little monetary value as it can be used instead of medications so hard to get funding for more research outside of PTSD.

I plan to do daily blogs for a while. I'm on a new "thing" after reading the Obesity Code.

I do think that's why we have friends, to help push or to push when we can't push any more. Or maybe friends are meant to stand back and say "ah, why are you doing that? Are you sure it is working for you? Or, let's grab a drink and appreciate how far you've come... or about which direction you are headed"

My younger two are getting married! And Jennifer is now a 6x so it has been tear jerkily hard and frustrating and confusing to find an outfit for her to wear. What I did not expect was her participation. She hates clothes shopping and shuts down with too much stimulation in the stores so I usually just buy stuff and have her try them on (if I'm lucky) at home. However she designed her own outfit, contacted a person who makes corsets and when I could not figure out how to do the measurements we went for a fitting. I was relieved and surprised that the woman was so good with her, even when she called later to say that her supplier did not carry the "parts" in a large enough size, she offered an alternative for how to make it. Then the daughter getting married got involved and yesterday they planned a road trip to a city that carries 6x clothes. They got a salesperson who took the time to listen to what Jennifer had in mind and about textures etc. and one of the girls who also went (a pencil thin brilliant astrophysicist who also has Asperger's) found to her surprise that the textures and weights of fabrics that calm her are not necessarily the same as what calm or trigger Jennifer. They girls all had fun, and success. And in the mean time Bob and I had a "date" and went to an art show and for dinner (rather quietly as I am meant to be on bed rest - it actually made me SMILE that you had a colonoscopy... am I sick or what?). Anyways, there are good days and I hope that I can be around to remind you you are NEVER a failure (also relating to a previous blog of yours). I hope you are having many good days too. I like this. No guilt about yesterday, and no pressure for tomorrow either! I think I could use this mindset for my long term to-do list!!

I also like the sound of this. I'm a firm believer in not spending a lot of time in the past. I learn from my mistakes and move on.
