Making a decision is only PART of the answer

I was watching Opra today and the show was about people who over came very serious tragedies in their life’s. This one woman spoke of how she over came 20 yrs of drug and alcohol abuse to her self.

She made a decision but she said that was not enough - then she had to create a plan on how to make her decision happen as well as a plan for how to handle herself when she was tempted to fall back into the old habits.

The whole time I was watching I kept thinking - BINGO ! That is where I have gone wrong every time with weight loss. I make my decision to lose weight and even at times make a plan but never have created a back up "emergency" plan.

So today after the show was over - I went grocery shopping and got a load of fresh fruits and vegs and other healthy foods, AND I am now prepared for an "emergency". I have healthy foods to grab for on the go - which happens around here quite often and usually fast food becomes the answer and I even have foods ready for "those" times that I must have choc or something sweet - like I got low fat low calorie fudge bars.
Now my next step is exercise - I need a plan AND a back up plan.

    Excellent! You are definately on the right track! You just added a huge tool to your toolbox and it will come in handy for you. You will achieve a healthy body and a healthy lifestyle.

    As far as exercise-remember-you don't have to commit to an hour a day. Commit to 15 minutes in the beginning. And, when you don't feel like it, remember that it is only 15 minutes and you will be done and you will be successful. And give yourself permission to stop at 15 minutes and feel good about it. Guilt and shaming yourself will never help you acheive your goals. What is the emergency plan. 5 minutes at a time 3 times a day. Just 5 minutes. If you need to stop-then stop. Later, try 5 more minutes. Remember that even Oprah HATES exercise. Even after all these years. So know, you may never like it. That is ok because you are doing it for yourself to be healthy. You may not like to go to the dentist or doctor either-but you do it (i hope) to maintain your health.

    You CAN Do this too!!!
