ABC's of retirement: test the tools
Friday, July 13, 2018
From our friendly neighborhood Webster's:
"test vt ... 2 to subject to a test; try 3 Chm. to examine by means of a reagent or reagents"
"tool n ... 3 anything that serves in the manner of a tool; a means [books are a scholar's tools]"
Sometimes the means we used to care for ourselves break down. As a tool loses its edge, we may become bored with our meal plans. Or over-training or injury in our exercise makes a change or modification necessary.
So yeah, in retirement as in other phases of life, it's necessary to sharpen the saw (seven habits fans out there?) and try the edge. If trying something new, a new plan, take measurements, record the observations, and "test" that tool!
Curiosity drives us to try something that's working for a friend, perhaps. Sometimes it works for us, sometimes not. But with a little more flexibility in time? Why NOT try it and see?
Hope y'all survived your Friday the 13th of July, 2018... I'm posting late today... onward into the weekend!
