Day 25 - After the party's over
Thursday, July 12, 2018
To avoid “after the party’s over” syndrome, prepare for any event by planning twice.
Besides your careful thoughts on how you will handle the party or gathering, you need to add a detailed plan for the evening or the day after the event.
1. Identify situations where you are at risk for eating after an event is over.
Hosting a dinner party.
Going to restaurants with friends or to someone’s home for a meal.
2. Come up with three self-care things you will routinely do to manage this.
Eat a small snack before the event so I’m not too hungry.
Plan a rest/transition time after a dinner party before starting to clean up. This will help prevent snacking on leftovers, especially dessert!
3. Create a detailed after the party plan for the day (or two) after the event.
Send food home with guests, including my family
Put away leftovers quickly so I’m not tempted to nibble
Do extra self-care the next day such as exercise, reading and playing the piano.
