Knee Surgery, Meet Pickles, the family dog

Wednesday, July 11, 2018

Knee surgery went well, the staff was amazing and explained everything before they did it. The surgeon showed pictures to my husband while I was recovering. It was not good. Lots of bone spurs. I'm going to need a knee replacement in 5-6 years. I'm blown away by this news. I was hoping this surgery meant that I'd eventually get back to running. Maybe I can hope for speed walking or jogging.

I dislike being on crutches, I have not been on crutches since 2000 in Basic Training when I initially injured my knee. I can't wait to see the pictures for myself. I made it up the stairs myself, with my husband behind me in case I fell. So I'm on the 2nd floor, and here I will stay till Friday when we go to get my pup, Hope, from the breeder, M. Well... tomorrow I might stay on the first floor, have DH bring my laptop downstairs and kick back in the comfy chair. My friend S might come visit.

I take that back, I was on crutches in 2002 when I had knee surgery when I was still in the AF. I totally forgot about that. It was horrible. My family took care of me (did not know DH yet) and they tried to feed me Kentucky Fried Chicken same day as surgery. I fell too, got dizzy yelled for help and down I went. So glad I've got DH and my in-laws now. God blessed me with him and his family for sure.

So I can't get my pupper as early as I'd like. For some reason the breeder, M, waited till Monday to make the vet appt and she couldn't get in till Friday at 1130. And this vet is really slow and always runs behind, so we are planning on 3, but it could be later. It's 2 hours away.

Meet Pickles, the family dog:

He's one of the most expressive and vocal dogs I've ever had. But then I've never had a small dog of my own.

Off to play a game, need to take my mind off the fact that I can't just get up and move around. Nor can I work out. But I will be able to soon.

Hope you have a Wonderful Wednesday!
