An Eye on Fitness

We are starting the 2nd week in the summer 5% challenge. I do pretty well with my meal tracking, so I’m focusing on activity and exercise in this challenge. My motivation for beginning this journey was to be able to be active, go on adventures.

I feel like the first week went well. My biking stamina seems to have made a substantial jump. I was able to complete three 30 mile rides within five days, two of them back to back. I felt strong and comfortable at the end of the rides. It’s kind of a strange NSV, but I finally put enough miles on my bike to wear out a chain and the steel belt on the rear tire started showing. I know I need to do some other exercise for balance, but I really hate typical exercise programs, sit-ups, leg lifts, etc. Last month I tried to add in swimming two days a week, but it was hard to be consistent because of the pool being closed due to thunder storms. So, this week I joined a gym with an indoor pool. On the days I swim, I also use some of the weight training machines.

The end of August will be a year since I started. Things are getting better emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
