Vacation Adventures

Some vacations are better than others; coming back home last year was fun. This year, it's fun, but not like last year.

We brought our new dog with us. We learned quickly that we couldn't go through drive-thru windows or park close to others when one of us had to go into a store. He's protective of us and the bark had me jumping out of my seat.

Note to self: just because a hotel used to be nice doesn't mean it is now. It's falling apart. Helena got off the toilet and the seat fell off with her. And that's only one thing. Granted, the bed and pillows are comfortable, but....

I'm used to 95 degree weather in Alabama. Detroit has had it all week. Being on the water and having more concrete, it was stifling. We went to the zoo yesterday and I didn't think I'd make it back to the car. Definitely more fluids going out than going in despite being prepared.

We went to the Tiger game last night. A shower would come through, we'd have to wait, a little more game would get played, and it would rain again. After going to the zoo, it wasn't easy standing under coverings waiting. Didn't help that we lost.

I did spend quality time with all the family and I am grateful for that. My second oldest niece passed the day after Thanksgiving. She was the one who introduced me to my husband. (We got married June 9). I really missed her physically not being there.
I know she was there in spirit.
