New Streak - Day 1

Thursday, July 05, 2018

I suppose I've had a lot of 'Day 1s' over the past year. Mostly it shows I wasn't really serious in the first place. Maybe desperately flailing about. I've put a lot of thought and consideration into this before I dared be public. So, here goes. If you desire, hold me accountable. I will answer email. I may answer posts. I will read everything.

So, I am starting with small goals. Not that I'm not up for a challenge, but I'm more concerned about building consistency before I get real involved. I have also determined to follow a whole person approach. So, here are my minimum goals for each day:

Body - Walk 1 mile before I leave for work in the morning.
Mind - Read something that challenges the way I think for at least 15 minutes each day.
Spirit - Start each day with Scripture

Today's results:
Body - It turned out the route I walked was slightly less than a mile. I'm counting a success because I completed the plan honestly. I'll make sure it is a complete mile tomorrow.
Mind - I started re-reading The Spark. Re-reading may be a bit optimistic, as I don't think I ever finished it in the first place, but I read all of chapter one.
Spirit. I continued a reading plan I previously started, reading two passages from Genesis.

Secondary Goals:
Body - Meet the step count goal suggested by VivoFit. Today's goal: 4,915. Completed: 6,408
Get to bed before 10:00. I have an hour, and I'm going to make it.
Mind - Journal my reading. Weill, if I can be done before 10:00
Spirit - Also journal the Bible reading. That's up next.
Also under Spirit is this blog. I have become convinced that there are sufficient similarities between a journey to a healthy, whole life and growing Christlikeness, that the two are joined in many ways.
