National Fruit and Vegetable Month

This is our assignment for the Aspire and Inspire sparkteam: June is National Fruit and Vegetable month. What are your favorite fruits and veggies at this time of year and how do you like to prepare them?
At this time of year I like to celebrate the Fourth of July with food. Here’s a simple fruit dish that looks really cute. It’s an American flag. Use a large rectangular platter or tray as your base. Put a small bowl of blueberries in the top left corner. Then make red stripes using sliced strawberries or pieces of watermelon. In between the red stripes make white stripes using yogurt-covered or white chocolate-covered pretzels. I first saw this at a party I went to, and here’s a picture of it I found:
I haven’t tried this second recipe yet, but I found it on the internet, and the picture of it is very pretty. It’s a red, white, and blue salad, and I got the recipe from
You just mix the following ingredients: 2 cups spring mix lettuce, 1 cup chopped strawberries, 1/2 cup blueberries, 1/2 cup feta cheese, and 4 tablespoons poppy seed dressing. Here’s the picture from the website:
