Amused to death

Tuesday, June 26, 2018

Title apropos of nothing other than listening to some Pink Floyd (Amused to Death is the name of a solo album by Roger Waters, formerly of that band) this afternoon, and the fact that I'm going to an amusement park on Thursday, namely Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. Can't wait, it'll be my first trip there in at least 16 years (I don't actually recall the last time I went, but I suspect it was in 2002). Looking forward to it, even if it's already cost me 6 bucks in the form of a glasses strap thingy that I'm not even particularly confident in - it doesn't seem to hold the glasses earpieces particularly firmly, and I'm imagining a good stiff breeze ripping 'em off my head and my glasses flying off into Lake Erie.

I skipped a concert tonight, partly in terms of putting those funds towards the amusement park trip (it's not cheap, let's just say that), but I did so in a very strange way, going to the venue itself to watch a movie. In fact, I watched a few minutes of the soundcheck from outside the auditorium doors, ruing not going to watch the guy play. I've seen him in action thrice before, and it's a very good show. But alas, I made a call and I stuck to it.

After the movie, I followed a few of my fellow movie goers over to a nearby establishment, in interests of being social. The beer and fries won't help much in terms of the Wednesday BLC weigh in due tomorrow, but they were tasty. I did cut out the use of salad dressing on salad I consumed over the weekend, due to one of that challenge's instructions, so perhaps the scale will forgive the stout and crack fries. We shall see.

Kind of debating whether to go play pickleball tomorrow morning, don't want to hurt myself prior to that trip down to Ohio. But that's an excuse I don't intend to fall for come the morning. Just laying it out there in case it becomes necessary. The bigger trick is just to wake up at an appropriate hour, which would be helped immensely by going to sleep at a decent hour, which lately hasn't been happening.
