Continue on the journey, not starting over.

Sunday, June 24, 2018

Today I am going to pick myself up and continue on my healthy me journey. I had surgery on my foot over a year ago and slowed way down on my exercise. It hurt to walk and my Dr advised me to take it easy. After six months in a cast or walking boot, he released me and told me to walk as much as I wanted to walk. No running or jumping, because of some different issues with my ankle bone. It hurt to walk. The metal pins, screws or whatever really caused pain. Did the best I could and about 3 months ago realized I can walk with out any discomfort or pain. Yea. I am walking again!
I also retired from work at the time of the surgery. I really watched my diet for a while, but I have gotten lazy about food prep. I can and do often eat whatever and whenever my DH is eating. He has a great metabolism, and eats a lot! I am a 5 foot 2 inch person. I know I cannot eat a lot of the things he eats, yet here I am following along!
I have gained 14 pounds in the past year. Not much you say? I have outgrown most of my pants and shirts. I liked my pants and shirts and pretty dresses. I liked getting dressed and things weren't choking me! I liked smooth lines without rumples. I also liked feeling good.
I am a quilter so it is easy for me to go into my studio for hours at a time without coming out.
Today I start practicing all the things that kept my weight down and my energy up. I will mover around every hour. I will plan my shopping for foods and meals. I will eat like a 124 pound woman and not a 200 pound man. LOL. Life is good, or as good as we make it. It is all about the choices we make and there is always another choice. I choose to be healthy and happy with my opportunities.
