I Joined A New Gym Today!
Friday, June 22, 2018
This morning, I joined a new gym and did my first Silver Sneakers class since last January. I met some very nice people too. When I got home, I showered and lay down. I ended up with a severe headache. I learned several things from this. One, I need to modify several of the exercises to take the stress off my neck and shoulders. This is tricky because I didn't feel it until several hours later. Two, I need to bring a snack to eat right after class. I had 20 ounces of water during class and another 20 ounces as I drove home. Three, treat the headache immediately! Don't wait until it progresses into a migraine! Plain Tylenol will work if I catch it early enough. Four, there is no shame in taking a nap after working out. Until I build up my stamina, I'm going to be tired. That's okay, I will improve.
I need to reel myself in a bit. Most people need to be pushed when working out. Not me. I need to pull back a little and pace myself more. These are my goals for the week. I will modify my workouts to reduce pain and avoid injury. I will use moderation when working out. I can do it!
