Happy Monday! I’m trying to start this week off on a bright note. I had a pretty decent weekend. I spent most of it preparing for Father’s Day. I am NOT a fan of Father’s Day for obvious reasons (I haven’t spoken to my dad since I was in my 20’s) but I wanted to make it a special day for my husband who is a really good father. I got him a few gifts and made him breakfast.



I joke that I can’t cook and my husband is much better at it (the hashbrowns were NOT good, John was gracious about it and didn’t complain but I could tell – I told him next time he could do the hashbrowns). I was pretty impressed with myself, though. I made B&G’s, bacon, hashbrowns, egg scramble, and sausage links (mine was chicken/spinach/feta, his was hot pork). It was a lot of work - I ended up taking a nap for an hour after breakfast LOL, and the kitchen didn't get cleaned until before bedtime. This will definitely be a "every so often" thing instead of an every day thing, I'm glad John does the major cooking!



I managed to get the house cleaned for the most part, although we had a severe flooding issue over the weekend and the carpet in the bathroom and hallway had to be ripped out. There are really nice wood floors under it – cross your fingers we can rip up ALL the carpet!



I got my food prep done for the week. My goals for this week are to drink more water and eat smaller portions. I packed some healthy foods and some not so healthy ones – I want to get the fridge/freezer and cabinets completely cleaned out, of all the things I didn’t track calories on, and once that’s done I’ll start from scratch with my food tracking. I don’t like wasting food, though, so I’m not going to just dump everything and start over, I’ll eat it and then start tracking again, but like I said, smaller portions. This week I’ve got:



- Leftover Father’s Day breakfast
- Eggplant & zucchini parmesan
- Salad with chicken, egg, avocado, carrot, and tomato
- Indian food! (my fav) – eggplant, red lentil, and carrot
- Cherries
- Apple
- Chocolate yogurt with protein bar chunk (used my stepson’s leftover chocolate ice cream for this – NOT so healthy – but if it keeps me from eating ½ a dozen donuts then whatevs).
- Passion fruit & peach frozen yogurt (again, probably not so healthy – but if it keeps me out of the break room at work, then I consider it a win!).
- Protein powder for my coffee (which I’m going to try to cut down on this week, less coffee, more water).



I’ll have a few other things mixed in, like this morning I had a pre-workout protein bar. I walked to work this morning – 3.78 miles – I figure if I’m starting from where I used to be, I might as well start again with what I used to do – and that was walking – I walked everywhere. I’m not going to be able to do it every day because I have a LOT of things going on between recovery, therapy, church, etc. but I can walk to work I would say at least once per week, and bike once per week. I was hot, sweaty, my feet hurt, and I was afraid I was going to be late to work (I wasn’t…), but I was singing so it was good.

Anyway, I’m feeling positive and happy this morning – I walked to work and then climbed up the stairs – and DIDN’T see my condescending little friend to ruin my day – so things are good.
