Feeling good about where I am at - June 14 2018

I am not a couple days into the changes I am making with respect to eating and exercise. And I am feeling good about the changes - though am struggling with the exercise part of the program.

Today - Thursday June 14 2018 - my daughter went out with one of her workers. Teresa takes her out every Thursday and she has such a great day. They start by going to where her other worker is working for the day and has breakfast with them. There are 4 of them - the 2 workers and 2 'girls/ladies' that are challenged and who are close in age. Priscilla (our daughter) loves it - every Thursday morning she says 'I go eat with Wendy and Laura' - so sweet. Then Teresa takes her and the go to the office to check in - Priscilla knows all of them by name and everyone gets a big hug from her. They then decide if they are going to do Zumba or bowling or a picnic or whatever - they even have Halloween parties for them and a Christmas party and of course birthday parties. Then between 6 - 8 special needs adults and their workers go out for lunch - usually Chinese food - we have been to the one restaurant a few time when they come in (it is a big restaurant) and it is so neat to watch these special people interact with each other. She returns home by 2 pm tired and happy.

For me today I was at the dentist for a cleaning - went ok as far as there is no dental work but one tooth occasionally does bother me - he did a root canal on it awhile ago and said it was a deep one. A number of years ago I had to have 2 molers pulled (they had been done with a root canal years ago and were capped) but the kept acking off and on so we finally decided that they need to be pulled. When he pulled them he said he now understood why they acked - there had a crack way down deep that did not show up on the x-ray - so the tooth that is acting up now he feels this might be the same. But this one is near the front and I really don't want it taken out so will live with it for now. X-ray shows everything is sealed and that there shouldn't be a problem so only time will tell. So between my teeth and my daughters teeth we are doing extra cleaning at home to make sure the plaque does not pile up.

As for my journey of eating differently. I am still on track though tonights supper was not really what I had planned but it was ok. So what did I eat today:

***Breakfast I had 1 small orange and 2 hard boiled eggs and 1 bottle of water.
** Lunch I had Chicken from Save-on Foods (they cook some as BBQ and others with a coating - of course I like the one that is coated best!!) Had 3 oz of it along with 2 tablespoons of potato salad - now it wasn't the balance lunch I had planned but it was ok.
** Supper hubby wanted pancakes and back bacon. So I had 3 dollar pancakes (I believe they were 4" across) and 2 slices of the bacon.

With each meal I had a bottle of water.

You will notice I did not get in the vegetables today - so that is not good - but am not going to give myself a guilt trip - occasionally having a day of food like this is ok .

The foods I have put on this weeks as things to avoid - Brisk Lemonade and chocolate - I have not had these so though todays food did not include vegetables I did not fall off the wagon and have the 2 that I have trouble with.

Now about exercising - I am so struggling with that - heck 10 minutes is not a long time to walk on the treadmill - but I didn't get it done. SOOOOO I am going to put it on the top of my list for sure for tomorrow. Should I do the treadmill tomorrow and everyday till Tuesday than I consider that a win as that is better than nothing.

Also I have been keeping 2 streaks and have added 2 knew ones 2 days ago. These are what they are

** Log onto Sparkpeople every day = 140 days in a row so far
** No pop - 595 days so far = this is just over 1 1/2 year of not having this
** No Brisk Lemonade = 2 days as of today = looking forward to getting to day 7
** No chocolate = 2 days as of today = looking forward to getting to day 7

    Quite a day for you and your daughter. So glad she enjoys and can enjoy outings with friends. She has all kinds of stories to tell when she gets home then.
    I've had your trouble with a tooth, and when the dentist pulled it, he put a bridge in---2 crowns on either side and a "fake" tooth in the middle. That way there was no gap for the teeth to move into and create gaps elsewhere.

    Great news that your new routine is going well. I think you're correct about writing things down and making them more important. I've always found that journaling about stuff other than food was most important for me--how I chose, how I felt about choices, how I'll handle the choices next time. Good job so far.

    I enjoyed reading your blog. I like your idea of journaling how the day went and what foods and exercise you do.
