Good morning and happy Friday eve!
Work has not been that busy this week (YAHOO) and the days are still flying by!
Anyone read SPARKGUY'S blogs on here? He is the founder of Sparkpeople.....anyway in his blog yesterday he talked about a Sparkpeople upgrade that is soon to come and they hope to launch it by the end of summer! Here's a link to his blog if you would like to read it. I'm kind of excited about what changes they are going to be making??? Anyone have any insight on this???? If you do, you probably can't say at the moment.....
I often go on to SparkPeople to help my motivation. I read a sentence recently that has really stuck in my head. I wish I could remember who said it or what blog response it was on so I could give credit to the specific person.....but I don't remember:
Another fellow sparkgoer said:
"TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR OUR CHOICES KEEPS US IN A MOTIVATED MODE"
I have repeated that one sentence a million times over. The lightbulb came on and it clicked in my head.
Being proactive in your life means anticipating problems, seeking new solutions and doing your best.
Don't wait for the ship to come in, swim out to it!
What is your ship?
Proactive means being reactive ahead of time.
Proactive means looking back from the future.
What does your future look like? Where do you want to be 1 month, 2 months, 3 months from now or a year from now? Where do you see yourself?
When it came to food, I use to live in the "reactive" world. I always felt like I could explode in any minute. Things would happen and they would catch me off guard, I would explode and food was my response. I was never prepared.
Now I am making much much better choices because I am prepared as I can be. It's a learning situation each and every day! And I am a much calmer person now because of being proactive.
To be pro active you need to stay focused on a solution....for me it is all the time. My old "reactive" ways became a habit in my life so at the moment, I still need to stay focused or the old will sneak back. Last night for example, I have been hungry for pizza for about a week now. I have tried other things to see if the craving would go away but it hasn't so we had pizza last night. I told myself 2 pieces.....I was just eating away, chatting with hubby and kids, and next thing I knew, I had piece #3 on my plate. I stopped and put it back. If I hadn't stayed focused, I would have ate #3 and maybe #4 and #5.......
I am constantly analyzing my steps I am going to take to achieve the goals I want to achieve. And with the goals I set, I try to have them be realistic. For example, my goal is to loose 4-5 pounds a month. Would I like to lose 10-15 pounds in a month??? Absolutely I sure would! But is that realistic? Nope. When goals are not realistic, it just sets a person up for failure. I use to have goals like that.....to loose 15 pounds in a month and when that month came to an end and I did not reach my goal I threw in the towel and gave up. I can't even count how many months I did that. Or I would say I was going to exercise 6-7 days a week. For my life, that just does not work. Again I would say screw it, give up and eat my feelings away. My exercise goal now is 2-3 times a week, much more manageable.
Being proactive also results in more consistency in your life. What happens when we are consistent? Consistent actions create consistent results.
Each step you take to be more proactive in your life that will bring you closer to the mindset that you need to achieve your goals whether it be weight loss or something else in your life. And yes, we can't have control over everything. Being proactive means you focus on things you have control over to make things better.
My #1 goal right now is to live a healthier life and lose weight because of it. Something I do each morning is encircle myself with great motivating people, quotes, and success stories. Sparkpeople has all of this and so much more......
Live your life for you and be proactive about the choices/changes you want for yourself.
Have a blessed day!
