NSVs and another little lesson learned (Day 4)
Tuesday, May 29, 2018
Anyone who has been on SP for any period of time is surely familiar with the concept of NSVs (non scale victories, for those who aren't). This is a wonderful way of looking at the journey we've been traveling, especially when the scale isn't cooperating so much, but other positive things are happening.
This weekend I had a NSV that included a great little lesson (or maybe just an aha moment??). Friends called on Sunday and asked us to go to the Red Lobster with them. Of course! When you live in the middle of the country, you don't have access to all the fresh fish possibilities that many do. At any rate, I immediately went into planning mode and decision making about what to order. Should I try to be healthy or order what I really like?? Something deep fried and crunchy? Baked potato with sour cream AND butter? And those biscuits!! Oh my. To die for!
Well...I'm pleased with my choices, including oven baked trout, fresh veggies, a really nice salad. All very tasty and I didn't feel deprived at all. Truthfully, it's probably the first time I've ever been able make such choices! A real NSV for me!
Oh yes...the biscuits? No, I didn't have one or more, as I usually do. For some reason, the phrase "to die for" kept running thru my mind. Will I ever have them? Of course. But, not right now. I want to live for a while longer! Little lesson learned that a biscuit isn't worth dying for! LOL
