Changing habits

Everyone knows that changing bad habits is really hard to do and takes a long time. Sometimes we change them without even realizing that we're changing them. So, it is with me. When I started a new challenge the first of spring. (the spring 5% challenge) I was always telling my self "no you don't need that candy bar" every time I would go through the check out lane. You know the ones that has always been your favorite, and they have to put them right there as your leaving to make sure you see them, even if you manage to skip the candy aisle. My sweet tooth has always been a hindrances to my weight loss journey. I had much of it under control except for ice cream and my candy bar.
A couple of weeks ago as I was at work and didn't have time to pack a good lunch. It was one of those on the spur of the moment things when your boss calls you up and says we're in a jamb can you help out. So, here I am making some good choices ( Determined daisies helped me to make good choices keeping ma accountable and all (love you guys for that)). I make my way up to the checkout lane and low and behold there it is reaching out to me. My favorite candy bar. Through a moment of weakness I grab it and add it my purchase. Seeing as how there is a line in front of me I have time to think on this candy bar. And put it back on the shelf to temp others.
When I returned to my post I had a few minutes to think about it and couldn't help myself to wonder what other habits I had changed. And, there are a few others like having more veggies with my meals and cutting back on carbs, and ice cream my all time favorite. I have cut out white bread and am eating more multi grains instead. When the time gets away from me and I don't get my exercise in in the morning. I find myself putting a little here and there. To get it in. mostly i am aware of who I am and where I want to be.
With the help from my new found friends with the determined daisies at the 5% challenge I was able to make it.

    You are doing fantastic!! I sure know that temptation--and sometimes still give in--but at least I think about it! Somethings, I don't think about--whole wheat bread, water instead of anything else, 2nds on veggies before anything else. These little things DO make a big difference!

    The 5%Spring challenge was my first but will not be my last! I didn't do great but I did better than I would have without the challenge!
