A Walk To Remember
Tuesday, May 29, 2018
My search for lessons in old blogs this morning transformed from scavenging to reminiscing.
For 2 hours I read words that I wrote in 2010. They were words that helped me grow and heal but reading them this morning made me realize there is still so much growing and healing to be done.
I’ve changed my profile picture to remind me that with hope, faith, and determination many impossibilities become possible.
The day that picture was taken, I had just finished a personal quest. I walked 10 miles to the farm where my Grandparents lived when I was a child. This morning my perception of the blog about that walk, and those leading up to it became an odyssey of not only my quest for a healthier physical body but my journey to the healing of a wounded spirit and damaged emotions.
Now, approaching 8 years later, I am in a similar place. I still have a yearning to return to the farm. I long to do the walk again and walk back home. For years afterward, I would start out with high hopes before illness would once again knock me down. Last time, in 2014 I made it to 7 miles. Since then, I’m blessed to be able to get out of bed and wear clothes every day.
Spark People, and more specifically the 5% Challenge have been a constant throughout those 8 years. Whatever was happening in life, I had someone to chat with, sharing good things, sad things, and glad things on SP.
There is always an article, blog or friend to help us remember the possibilities.
Sometimes the inspiration even comes from your own reflections of what once was.
