Shoney's strawberry pie

Sunday, May 27, 2018

DH has just informed me that Shoney's has their strawberry pies on sale. They do this every year, and so far I've always managed to convince him we don't need to get one. (I've made a "healthier" version at home before-- which he insists is okay, but "not the same".) My protests have not worked this time and DH has gone to get one.

Dear Lord, please help me. When I promised for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, in good times and bad.... nobody said anything about living with a man who can eat like a pig and never gain weight. Me? I can smell a doughnut and grow a bigger butt.

I've been practicing Spark's "anything, in moderation" for quite a while now-- so we shall see how it goes, with a whole danged pie in the house.

Hope you handled it - my husband is just like yours. When he went with me to the grocery store the other day and I asked to have a loaf of bread sliced in the bakery, they had cookie samples for kids. I asked if "my big boy" could have a cookie and seriously he looked just like a little baby boy!

Maybe you could just eat the inside and leave the crust. I have sympathy for women who live with men who eat badly. On the other hand my DH has serious food issues so I have to plan and cook every meal. But you have to love them.

I hear you! I haven't had a slice of strawberry pie in years and now I can't stop thinking about it. My hubby & I bought a mini pie pan last year. It works well for us, usually 2 small slices each, and then we're done. "All things in moderation." emoticon

Then I keep eating however much I put on my plate. After about three bites I go back into wanting to eat it. It's best for me to just have one bite or a predetetmined amount

Wow that's hard! Maybe think of this as an experiment to see how far you've grown in self control. One thing I've noticed is that when I haven't been eating sugar and sweets, the first bite is often not that great and I don't really need it but ...
