Update on Knees and Arm
Sunday, May 27, 2018
I thought I would post an update about the problems I have had with both my knees and my arm. Last July, I broke my left arm and it is continuing to heal. It did require two different surgeries (the second one, because it broke a second time for no known reason). I am using a bone growth stimulater (runs for 30 minutes once each day), and after several months of not being able to put any weight on my arm, I can finally start to do more and put light weight on my arm.I am working with my trainer again, which I really appreciate.
My right knee (I've had both replaced two years ago) was causing me some serious problems after working out. I made an appointment with my other ortho and modified my exercises. He thinks it is probably just a little scar tissue that will clear up on it's own. I am gradually increasing the intensity of my workouts. If all goes well, I see him again in two years, which is what I am hoping.
Through all this, the Starfish team (one of the 5% Challenge teams) has been very supportive, even when I could not contribute time to our race (being in the hospital really cuts into exercise) You can join here for the same type support
