I’m so excited about this weekend! My middle sister is arriving today for what will be a weekend of celebration: our nephew is graduating from high school! My mother and her husband are driving down from their home in the north and much fun will be had by all!
As usual, celebrations provide many opportunities to overeat and I am trying to prepare for that by planning my meals in advance and having healthy options on hand! I will definitely make my favorite potato salad but with low fat mayo. I’ll have raw fruits and veggies instead of chips on hand for dipping in healthy hummus and guacamole. I am limiting desserts and sweet stuff. Instead of focusing on food, I will focus on catching up with people and having fun.
And if there are stresses (sometimes happens with family…) I will not eat my feelings. Instead I will take a little break, take a walk or some time to meditate on all that is good in life.
And I will be sure to exercise every day. That always helps keep me on track.
So happy to be kicking off what I hope will be a fun summer! Happy Memorial Day weekend to all my friends here in the US and belated good wishes for Victoria Day for my friends to the north!
