Today the hygienist at the periodontist commented when cleaning about a little "bump" on my lower lip, and asked it if bothered me. Not really, I replied, but I sometimes catch it with my teeth. Had it been getting larger? Not that I'd noticed.
When the Periodontist was directed to that spot, she identified it as benign, with scar tissue at its source. It could be removed any time I wanted. They would call it a biopsy, but it would be up to me whether it went to the path lab or not... she was 99.99% sure it was benign, not malignant.
I cast back in my mind to see if I could figure out the source of it... and after a few minutes, "bingo!" That's where I bit my lip when I fell on my chin in January 2016! The last vestige of my falls. So... a week from today, it's going to be removed.
Meanwhile, we are 9 days out from the next event I've already plunked my money down for: the Memorial Lincoln Duathlon is Sunday May 27th, two days after that procedure... she had mentioned several small stitches once it's out... and that it would feel as though I'd bit my lip for a few days. I don't think it will stop me from doing the Du.
That means next week will be another "semi-taper" week... oh, dear, the crazies continue. But I do have that yard work to distract me!
Now let's all live the very best Friday May 18, 2018 we can manage, wherever we are on the path... because it's the only one we'll ever get... and because we are worth taking care of, each and every one of us!
