Thought and Prayer for Friday, May 18, 2018

Friday, May 18, 2018

Remember when we were little? Life was pretty great, right? We were excited about everything. We really had no worries as children; however, as we got older we wanted to be grown up so we could do whatever we wanted to do and not be controlled by our parents. And, as life went on and we began to do what wanted, we found life wasn’t so great.

We may have gotten ourselves into things that caused difficulties for us. We may have gotten too far out on our own and discovered life wasn’t at all like we thought it would be. Sin can do that. When we get away from God’s direction and want to have control, we will find our decisions aren’t the best. That’s why we need God. When we give ourselves completely to God, our lives can be great again because we are putting Him first, obeying Him and giving Him all the glory.

Romans 6:12-13 “Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.” (NLT)

1. Write how your life has gotten out of control.
2. List the ways you have attempted to fix it.
3. Know God has the right answer for you.
4. Give Him control of your life and live to obey Him.

Dear Lord, we pray You will show us where we need to let go. You promise us a great life when we put our trust in You and obey You. Yes, we will still have struggles but our lives will be great because we are no longer bound to the sin of the world. Our lives will be greater because You will be first in them. Thank You, Lord, for all You do and we pray You will keep us focused only on You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

If we want a great life, we need God.

Trusting in the things of the world will just let us down. Let’s choose to trust in God.

If we continue to attempt to control our lives, our lives will get out of control.

When we allow other things to control us rather than God, we will find ourselves disappointed and unhappy.

God has the ability to work through us and get more done that we could ever do. We can have a great life when we put our trust in Him.

Ephesians 3:20 “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” (NLT)
