My Job Is My Biggest Obstacle

Thursday, May 17, 2018

Ah, the world of doughnuts. So sweet, so round, so... not good for you.

As an employee of one of -- if not THE -- largest chains of doughnut-making companies on the planet, I admit it's incredibly difficult to stay focused on a mindset of weight loss. While they're not as tempting as you might think, just the fact that I work in making doughnuts as a living, I feel like, hinders me greatly.

I'm not constantly chowing down on those sugary delicacies, but rather, I feel like my greatest downfall is the fatigue and heat I experience while working, causing me to turn to hydrating myself constantly over the course of my 8-hour shift. Yes, I do drink water, but I also turn to Coke and other drinks that give me an energy boost. This is my downfall.

I feel like no matter how much I tell myself to go for the water, in the back of my mind, I'm going for the spark of energy the other drinks give me. I don't know how to change my mindset. I feel like weight loss is so much more than exercising and eating healthier.

Weight loss, to me, is 50-35-15. 15% exercise, 35% nutrition, 50% discipline. And discipline should be the first thing tackled.

I'm not exactly sure how to go about discipling myself and getting myself in that mentality of "behaving as you would post-weight-loss" so any advice is greatly appreciated.

The mindset is definitely the place to start. Conquer that and you will have it made.
As for dealing with the heat leading to dehydration, could you use a cooling towel? They have some hi-tech ones now that work quite well.
