Price for Medicine

Thursday, May 17, 2018

Today I read article in NE journal. Interesting. They discuss the price for generic medicine, and why this price is so high. What is interesting, I do not see they discuss really generic medicine but medicine for some very rare conditions. Generic medicine really is not so high. We can afford it. The problem is only one, it does not work in the way it suppose to.
Metformin. Number one MD choice to reduce blood sugar level. Try it. Simple, stop to take Metformin and see if number will go up or down. If up, re-start Metformin. If not, or down then why do you need it? The price is $4 for month supply. The damage is priceless. This price will coma later.
Insulin. Insulin is only Brand Medicine. Probably it is regular Insulin which is not expensive. I do not know. I take only Insulin in pen, Lantus solo Star, Nivolog, Apidra, Humalog, and probably some other type of Insulin. They are all very very expensive.
Asthma. Some generic medicine is available. There is no rescue medicine and Symbicort, most effective type of Asthma medicine, is about $400 month supply.
Simvastatin, Atrovastatin, and all other statins are not so pricey. They do not work. So simple. Take a look at the diabetics type 2 profile, do they take statins? Usually every one of us do. And cholesterol is high. 600, 900,... . Only when I stopped to take all the statins and started to take Lipitor my cholesterol got normal. Lipitor is Brand Medicine. Cost about $700 month supply for me.
Authors suggested the competition, the enter other companies to manufacture the same medicine with the same properties. I can say that for diabetes medicine competition is very high. Why medicine is so expensive?
It is interesting, is there are some solution to the problem? Is there some possibilities that our life is not for profit those who hold medicine we need? Interesting, is not it? 80,000 people die every year due to diabetes type 2. Every year only high blood sugar lead people to Death. Less then 10 years after being diagnosed with diabetes diabetics type 2 take last trip on this road. Diabetes today not only can be successfully treated but cured if the treatment started on time.
