Not much today exercise, I got hammered.

Wednesday, May 16, 2018

We start every day with a walk in the country with the dogs. Today started the same way. I took the day off today to take one of my dogs to the vet, not a big deal, just a follow-up. Most weekdays I go to work, but today I didn't because we planned after the visit to the vet, to install a new storm door. When we got home, we started working on the door. We had to remove some of the brick moldings we added to on the last storm door ( a cheapie too small, long and boring storm door story ). I got my husband a step so he could have something to stand on. I put the step down, it flipped over. He didn't see that it flipped and picked up the hammer to tap the little wrecking bar into the moldings on the top of the frame. I bent down to set the step up right. He didn't know I was bending down, I didn't know he was picking up the hammer, and bam, he got me in the forehead with the hammer. I have never been hit in the head with a hammer before. It was unpleasant. Jim was just raising the hammer and not wielding it, but it left a nasty mark and a fairly large knot. We went to emergency. I'm glad it wasn't an emergency. There was no doctor in the building. We sat and chatted with another couple that was waiting for the same, not present doc. She wanted a cast on her arm removed, not an emergency. After about an hour and a half of nice conversation, I thought it was time for me to leave, so I went home. I never did see a doc.

I have always been a little hard headed. Today was proof of that. The knot rose up and went down. Now it is almost gone. By the time we did the hospital visit, and finally installed the door, I didn't exercise. I did notice that if I raised my blood pressure a bit, or bent down, the diminishing knot throbbed. It was a good enough excuse for me not to get it all moving. I'm not sure how long I can use that excuse, but hey, smoke 'em while you got 'em. Tomorrow is another day. I will avoid hammers to the head, and get some exercise in.

Ouch!! Glad you're ok! I'm hardheaded to. I can be a good thing!

Funny, "smoke em if you got'em". I don't smoke anymore, but used to say that all the time!! I still think of that line often. Love it!

I'm glad you were okay. Your story left me wondering why there wasn't a doctor available? Is that normal where you live? Good thing, it wasn't an emergency.

Ouch! That was not fun! Poor you and poor husband! I would think doing anything more than walking the dogs might not be a good idea right now. Glad the swelling is going down. Yikes!

    Feel better soon!

When I was little, I remember my mom and dad threatening me they were going to hammer some sense into my head (guess I was a bit So maybe that is what your hubby was doing for you. Do you feel like you have more sense???? emoticon All funnies aside, I'm glad you are ok. If you feel any symptoms at all, you need to get it checked out. Sometimes we feel that if we don't see blood gushing then it's not serious. That is so not true. Take care of yourself and take a day off.

Wow....that was inconvenient, to say the least! Hope that you don’t suffer any after-effects from being whacked in the head!

Yikes ! I know to give my husband lots of space if tools are involved. I’ve had two nasty concussions- and three other dumb ones. As long as you are not nauseous , dizzy, or out... otherwise get checked out.

He did/does feel bad. It was the first time he hit anyone with a hammer, head or anywhere else.

Wow, glad you are ok. I think it was wise to skip the exercise after that. I bet your poor hubby feels bad. Take care & keep sparking!
