Gym Buddies Suck!

Not massive gains but gains. Between the first picture and the 3rd I have lost 25 pounds or so. In the last month I keep losing inches but have lost no weight. My biceps have increased size by 1 cm. I'm happy.

And then....

All this time I have been going to the gym all by myself, plugging along and doing my thing. A few weeks ago my husband decided he wants to be my new gym buddy. kinda cool idea, but I know my husband, so i didn't get myself super excited about it.

Monday was the big day. Kids went back to school. First day for hubs at the gym. He's been talking about it for 3 weeks. I drop the kids off at school in the morning and almost dread going back home because I am wondering what excuse he's going to have not to go. Sure enough- diarrhea. Ok so I agree to postpone until the following day. Pretty sure he won't want to kick off with leg day anyway, I decided to offset my schedule a full day for the rest of the week.

Tuesday comes: "Well I wanted to go on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. ......Fine so I went by myself and did arms.

Wednesday: "I don't want to start off with leg day." Ok then I will do leg day and you can start with arms. "I want us to do the same thing together."

OK PROBLEM: I lift 4 days a week. You want to lift 3 days a week. We will NEVER have the same schedule.

Hurt feelings.

New rule: I will help you but you will go to the gym when I go and do what I do because your lack of discipline is not going to f*** up my progress.

Set your goals. Achieve them. Don't rely on other people to motivate you. Other people will hold you back if they don't have the same goals, motivation, discipline. Truth.

    Oh girl! I feel you on this! I used to think I couldn't do it on my own. Sometimes still I feel like I cant but I've learned you can only reply on yourself to get the job done. Its not easy but if I want it bad enough I will find a way. Workout buddies are amazing WHEN they are on the same path as you, if not they can hinder your progress and allow yourself to make excuses.

    Sorry I know I don’t have a physical work out buddy either and one of my challenges is to find one. Hard to do and at 60 I can’t find anyone interested in doing something that involved. My husband does not like the way I look yet not supportive either or walks or encourages

    Good for you. I go to the gym on my own and it has become a habit. There are many friends I have made over the years. I wish my husband would go as well, but it is his decision. Keep up the great work! emoticon
