May 11, 2018 GREAT WISDOM
If we were to think back in time about some wise individuals throughout history, we could all come up with a few names. The people may have been wise because of an invention, investment or inspiration. People are called wise for many reasons. There are many worldly definitions of wisdom; however, true wisdom only comes from God. God’s wisdom can be found in His word and His wisdom is available to those who choose to live for Him.
James 3:17 “But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.” (NLT)
1. Write down what you know about God’s wisdom.
2. List some things that describe the wisdom that comes from God.
3. Seek His way and pray for godly wisdom.
4. Get into His word and learn how He wants you to be wise.
Dear Lord, we know we sometimes get so wrapped up in this world that we forget to seek only Your wisdom. We know only Your wisdom is true and pure and right. Help us to seek godly wisdom and show us how to share Your wisdom with others. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
True wisdom only comes from God. We need to stop seeking wisdom from this world.
When we seek God’s word, we will find true wisdom.
Job 28:23-24 “God alone understands the way to wisdom; he knows where it can be found, for he looks throughout the whole earth and sees everything under the heavens.” (NLT)
There is much wisdom in God’s word. We should seek His wisdom and strive to live according to His word.
Thank God that true wisdom can be found in His word.
Job 12:13 “But true wisdom and power are found in God; counsel and understanding are his.” (NLT)
