A Warrior Weekend...

One of the things that sparked me up again a month ago, was knowing that right around the corner would be a weekend-long dodgeball tournament that I was entering with my regular team. Games were played starting on Friday, and ended on Sunday. It's the largest dodgeball tournament in the world, apparently, with over 150 teams playing throughout the whole weekend. I wanted to be in good shape for the tournament for a couple of reasons - one being I wanted my body and lungs to be able to endure the demands of all that activity, and the other being that I wanted to be in good shape to perform my best. It was a great little spark to kick start my 2018 road to a healthier body, and I'm happy to say I both endured, and also played incredibly well in each game. What I DIDN'T count on though, was that the demands on my body wouldn't end just there...

I play dodgeball in the Fall and Winter months, and softball in the Spring and Summer months, generally speaking. Our softball schedule came out a couple of weeks ago, and it turned out our first game would be on Thursday May the 3rd... the night before going off to the tournament. :D Now, as if that wasn't a cherry on top situation already, I actually joined a second softball team this season, and they play on Sunday nights... so guess what capped off my weekend of athletic endurance? Yep. A second softball game.

I won't lie, I went into the weekend with a hint of apprehension, wondering what would become of my 37 year old body. I brought tylenol and advil, some A535, and a case of gatorade, hoping for the best. I made sure to stretch constantly, stay loose, rest somewhat adequately, and you know what? My month of good eating, consistent training, and weekend safety measures, all panned out to deliver a successful weekend of athletic prowess. My legs are quite sore today, and my throwing arm is pretty worn out in the shoulder, but I survived, and had a blast.

Calories burned? Approximately 3500!!! A whole pound worth of fat, see ya later, lol!
