I am a little concerned about the Cooper-dog. Yesterday when I got back to dad’s house after being gone for about 5 hours he looked to be in abdominal distress, with abnormal posture, listless, lethargic, just “punky” as my grandma would have said... it was bad enough...and abnormal enough... that I called the oncall, after hours vet and described his symptoms! She said his symptoms were rather non-specific and really she would suggest watching him overnight and see how he does. My niece, Tigan, and her dog, Sweet Pea, were also gone all day... so the Cooper-dog was alone with my dad a good portion of the day, but dad said the Coopster just laid in the sun, in the grass ( on the outside run line) for two of those hours, while dad sat outside on the porch himself and read the newspapers. Dad and I discussed it, and decided to wait and see what happened when Sweet Pea got home, and whether the Coopster was just sandbagging it because he was sulking about Sweet Pea being gone. Sure enough he was more energetic when she got home, but still not 100%... the vet said it could be abdominal, but from his abnormal posture he could have tweaked his back. Right now he is snoring...
The vet said she is oncall tomorrow from 7am-9pm, but unless it seems like a true emergency I can probably wait until Monday and call and get a regular appointment.., if he’s even symptomatic by then! Silly puppy! Silly me!
I do get so worried when he’s not his usual self... or it seems he is in pain. Those are the times I wish my dog could speak my language and use words to describe where it hurts... instead of just giving me the sad puppy dog eyes!
