So. The visit with the family was great. The rock and gem show was mostly fantastic. A few other customers were those "crystals have magic powers" and "this kind of crystal cures ______" and kept LOUDLY stating their opinions in my ear. (For the record, I am a scientist. Crystal structures can focus certain types of energy, but they have not been proven to have "magic power" or cure any disease, especially cancer). They kind of detracted from my enjoyment, but avoiding them helped. The people who let their kids climb on my walker like it was a jungle gym were a load of fun, too. A couple of "excuse me, do you mind?" And an "Ow, dammit" made the point. The "Ow, dammit" wasn't intentional, but when they nearly knocked me down for the THIRD TIME in five minutes and it HURT, it sneaked out. And I was wearing my new hot pink dress, so it's not like they couldn't see me!
But whatever. I got some beautiful polished rocks and copper wire to make some pendants to sell at my store, so victory!
I got about a dozen compliments on my dress
The hotel is a real disappointment, but a lesson learned. Upper end hotels are a waste of money. Many of the guests here let their children behave like animals, screaming and running in the halls, pounding on walls. And the adults have been rude to the staff and drinking in the pool. Sigh. My son used to work in a resort, and he said the pricier the facility, the more entitled and rude the guests are. So sad.
I ordered Papa Johns delivery for our dinner and was pretty happy. Their pizza toppings were pretty skimpy, but they were great about my allergy to peppercini peppers and very careful to not let my food be contaminated by them. And they weren't rude and defensive about it being their "trademark " and insisting that they had to put them in the box. I'm making that another focus, the great service over the so-so food.
I vent over things still, but I don't hold on to the negatives like I used to. I vent and let go.
The vacation has been a success overall. Next time, cheaper hotel to avoid that disappointment and a bodyguard (Hubs) to keep people from knocking me over. Perfect! Sounds like a plan for next year.
I've got this!!!
