Round Two Of Testing
Monday, April 30, 2018
This morning I got the results of round one of my neurological testing. I have some strange form of (moderate to severe) neuropathy affecting both legs. The name was complicated and long. My left had has no ulnar nerve impingement as previously thought. The doctor thinks there is an issue with my C-7 or C-8 nerve (cervical spine). I need lots more physical therapy, continued use of a walker, increased walking and blood work.
The neurologist will order some blood tests to see if there is an underlying condition causing the neuropathy. If nothing shows up in the blood work, I may have a form of neuropathy for which there is no known cause. The doctor was very thorough in his explanation, which I really appreciated. We will discuss the blood tests at the end of May and decide on a further course of action at that time.
When I checked out at the end of my appointment, I got a referral for a new neurosurgeon, a prescription for a new back brace, an order for continued physical therapy and an order for a series of blood tests. Hopefully, the new neurosurgeon will monitor the healing of my fractured L3 vertebrae. My neurologist will continue to monitor the rest of my neurological conditions.
