Impromptu picnic... and redecorating

Tuesday, April 24, 2018

I had a totally impromptu picnic with my eldest niece for dinner last night. I am out of picnic supplies though, so we used real china and silverware. She was coming over to walk our dogs together and hadn’t eaten dinner yet, so I offered to cook for her and bring it out to the picnic table for us to share, since she had her dog with her (visiting dogs are not allowed in the building any longer)... I let her choose the menu from the food options available in the fridge and freezer... so we ended up having cheese ravioli with just a sprinkle of shredded Parmesan, and roasted asparagus with sesame seeds. I shouldn’t have that much pasta, but eh, sometimes I just wanna have pasta, ya know? We will see what my morning glucose reading is... ( but it was worth it) After I packed up the dirty serving dishes, and China, etc. it was time to walk the pups. Her dog is a Cattledog, so she is constantly moving, and my dog is obliviously going about his business. They are generally fairly well behaved when they walk together. Tigan was going to help me with my rearranging project, but she was tired 💤 and her puppy was tired... so she is coming later today instead. I lost steam about 8:30 last night after unloading, moving, and putting books back on the shelves for 5 full-sized book cases. I am not trying to alphabetize when I put the books back on the shelves ( which is going to drive me nuts in short order)... so I can see another project in my future that involves sorting and re-alphabetizing my entire library.., which is fairly extensive, considering I live in a Studio apartment! I am also sorting out books to donate during this rearranging process, and I have a significant number of books to donate to the Literacy Volunteers used book store at the beginning of next month. That said, it just means that I almost have room on the shelves I own for the books I currently read and reread on a semi-regular basis. lol All that heavy lifting of bookshelves (my apartment has wall to wall carpeting, so I can’t slide them), and pacing back and forth putting books on shelves is hard work. And in the midst of all that I still managed to walk about 6 miles with the doggie. So the impetus behind the big rearranging project was a discriminatory and dictatorial notice the building manager put on everyone’ door yesterday. I won’t go into details, but suffice to say it flipped my switch.., big time! I ranted to anyone and everyone who sat still long enough. I am still a little hot.., and I don’t generally bother getting truly angry about very many things. The redecorating project started out as a deep cleaning, before morphing into total transformation... that’s how angry and frustrated I am! I am just channeling that energy into productive use. Cooper is just staring at me like I am nuts... a lot of side-eyes and sighing happened yesterday...before he curled up and fell sound asleep.

I'm so happy you had some quality time with Tigan and her doggie. Yes, Coop must think you've lost your last bean..LOL! emoticon Alphabetizing is a CRAZY big job. i have thought about taking some of my surplus books to the consignment gallery to sell...but people don't want to pay anything for used books...even though mine are truly pristine. My mother was a historical librarian before she was a photo-journalist so I'm very careful with most of my books. I'd make more money reselling them on Amazon because so many of them are hardcovers.

I knew right away when we first became friends that you were an avid reader...it shows in your dialogue and certainly shows in your poetry...readers are aWESOME writers!

DH has written a few things and I really couldn't read his stuff...it was so awful...hated to hurt his feelings but I begged him to start reading. He did and his writing has improved tenfold! Case in point eh?

Do you have any legal options against the management? What a *itch. At least you had a productive visit with your niece.

    Picnic sounds good!!! Fun!!!

Ugh on rules, rules, rules. Today I went to a council meeting here. YO!! A retired Dr thinks she can rant and rave and its fine. Its not.

Love reorganizing. I'm currently redoing some furniture. Its super relaxing!! I bough a non smell paint and can't wait to apply it!!

Shame she can't deal with the noise your downstairs neighbours make instead of inflicting her stupid dictatorial rules on you all.Do you think she would like it if I told her she needs to figure out what is important in life , no I don't suppose so either but it is nice to think about doing every once in a while !

Ugh, imagine if they actually made new rules to discourage all of the noise violations instead of whatever nonsense they are pulling now.

Glad you have a lovely picnic and walk!

Going through the pain of moving and rearranging now too. My body is screaming at me. I have taken two rest days.

I feel your book pain! I recently boxed up three boxes of books that went to the Friends of the Library for their book sale. I'm down to four book cases, down from about six or so at the highest point. It's a dusty, dirty job.

Sounds like a nice picnic with your niece and her dog. Quiet little times like those are just as nice as big celebrations. Susan

Dinner sounded delightful. Cooper was wise to leave you alone. I haven't had a good rant for about 2 weeks, but it was enough that I went outside for a walk in the rain.
