Well I'm back here again. I loved talking with others and putting my thoughts down but life just got to be more then I could handle. I retired nearly a year ago from my JOB. Now I'm helping raise 3 of my grandchildren. To say life is different is an understatement. Having 3 teenagers at home after being an empty nester for many years was tough at first. I'm getting more adjusted now. Hoping this will be the year I can get in shape and spend a little time on my fitness goals. My husband and I are doing the keto lifestyle. He was diagnosed as diabetic and this just made more sense to me. If you can't tolerate carbohydrates it only makes sense to cut them from your diet. I'm a retired nurse and 42 years ago that's what we told our patients but someone came up with the low fat diet and the government pushed for increased grains and breads. I believe we all can say that hasn't worked. Now I'm not saying i'm a fanatic but I do believe it necessary to limit our carbohydrates if you are diabetic. In 3 months he lost 25 lbs, dropped his A1C from 6.8 to 5.8 and feels better then he has in a long time. No sugar cravings,no stomach issues and not sleeping the minute he sits down. I've lost 10 lbs and resisted doing the keto lifestyle cause I love margaritas and my sweets. After seeing how much better he looks and feels I decided I am crazy not to jump in full force. I'm cooking for him anyway so why not. I know a lot of people here will not approve this eating style but I wanted to be honest and up front with what I'm doing. Here's to making goal this time.
