Unlucky with Fitbits

I had my first Spark Tracker forever - until I took it in the pool with me. The second fell out of the holder on a walk. I found it in the street the next day only to lose it somewhere outside.
My first Fitbit was lost in the backyard (I think) while playing with Helena. The next one lasted awhile but I suspected it was slowly giving up the ghost. I got a Fitbit Flex II and gave the old one to my youngest.
I had the newest one for maybe a couple months. Yesterday, Tim called me just as I picked up Helena from daycare. He said he wasn't sure but asked if I had my Fitbit. Sure enough, my band was empty. When he got home from work, he found a small mangled black piece on the living room floor. Ricky (the chew-everything puppy, decided to investigate it. It was hard to tell what it was originally.
Sherry asked me if I wanted my old one back. Sure. But, along with the one that I bought her for Christmas a couple years ago, it went the way of the single socks. It's hiding somewhere, but will probably take months to find.
So that's six trackers gone in the last three years. Do I replace it? Do I decide to not stress so much over actual steps and just concentrate on keeping active?
