Aspire to Inspire - National Sibling Day

Tuesday, April 17, 2018

For the Aspire & Inspire team we were asked to blog about National Sibling Day. April 10th is National Sibling Day - a day to appreciate and cherish your brothers and sisters.
Do you have any siblings? Are you close to them? What are some favorite family memories you have with your brother(s) and/or sister(s)?

I have one brother that was 19 months older than me. We were pretty typical as children with our bickering, but if anyone else ever bothered me, he was there to protect me.

While we were never especially close as adults we both knew that if we ever needed anything we would be there. One winter my husband had to work away from home and my water pipe burst in the middle of the night. The next morning my brother was there to fix it.

Sadly my brother passed away several years ago. He lived alone and was found by his two sons when none of the kids had heard from him for a day or so.

This is my brother and I about the time my brother was 16 or 17. I remember my brother and I took a trip to California in that car to visit our family. What an experience that was.

I didn't know there was a National Siblings Day. I have one sister who is almost 8 years older than I. We are close and yet not. She lives a bit from me and I don't see her very often, although we talk weekly on the phone.

Her being much older means she knows everything better according to her LOL. There's nothing she wouldn't do for me or I wouldn't do for her. Almost a generation apart makes things just a little difficult.
