Why mess with what is working

Monday, April 16, 2018

I just read an article about how to become an early morning excerciser. I am not an early morning excerciser. If you are great! But why do I have to? The answer is, I don’t have to. My mornings are time for me to spend with God. It is time when I read scriptures, when I pray and journal. When answers come after thoughtful pondering. Why would I want to give that up? My spirituality is my highest priority, even a higher priority than my health (gasp).😱 I KNOW that I cannot duplicate those quiet contemplative moments at any other time of the day. That is my time! Afternoons are when I go for long walks. I can walk for anywhere from three to four miles. I don’t feel rushed to get back to start my day. The world is awake, the birds are out, tractors in the fields, the smell of freshly turned dirt. During those walks I review my day, unwind, I observe nature, I solve the worlds problems. I pray, I receive answers,I come home with a feeling of satisfaction. Why would I want to disrupt all that is working in my, because of some arbitrary rule that someone has set? I am comfortable inside my own skin. I march to a beat of a different drummer, but that is okay. My advice - find what works for you, and do it your way. You will stick with your program much longer if it fits into your lifestyle, rather than trying to change your lifestyle to fit into somebody else’s rules.

I think you just wrote an article about how to include spirituality and fitness in your day and work with your own biorhythms.

Yes! My old family Dr. used to always say that . . . . "if it isn't broken, don't fix it!"

Well I'm totally different than everyone else here, cause I exercise when I fit it into my schedule. Sometimes morning, sometimes afternoons, and occasionally late night and I mean late night.

So I say to each there own and nothing is set in stone. Keep on doing what works for you and keeps you doing what you need to do to stay healthy.

I'm with you. I'm a morning person, that works for me. My wife prefers to workout in the afternoons. That has worked for us even thought we're polar opposites as it relates when we like to exercise.

Absolutely. I work out early mid morning ish. That works better for me, better for my family. No alarms set here for a workout.
