I had surgery last Thursday. I went to the doctor for a lump on my back, she sent me to a surgeon, and the surgeon scheduled me just a day later to remove it. She called it a benign soft tissue mass. Anyhow, Thursday I went to the hospital and was prepped for the surgery, not sure when it was I was taken back to the OR. I woke up in my little same day surgery room with stinging pains in my back as well as body aches, sore throat, dizziness and nausea. They gave me something for all of it, but when that wore off it was still the same.
I was finally able to get dressed and come on home. I went to sleep immediately, waking later to take a nausea pill and pain med. I thought I'd be feeling fine Friday, but no way... I hurt all over still. The only thing that had subsided was the nausea. My neck, shoulders sides and back were all hurting. I felt like I had been beaten! So all day Friday and Saturday I stayed in bed. Saturday was better than Friday at least and I finished a book I was reading, tried to do a little online on my iPad, but still slept most of the time.
I did do my Saturday weigh in for my 5% Challenge team, the DAWGS, but was terribly disappointed there was no change. I'm hoping it's just fluid retention from all that's happened since Thursday.
Today is even better, it doesn't hurt as much to breathe deep (I feel just a little heaviness in my chest) and my neck and shoulders have improved a lot. Coughing still hurts a bit, as does the incision but I think that will subside in a day or two.
Right now I'm sitting in the living room. I got on my laptop and found so many get well wishes! Many thanks to everyone!
Later today I might try for 10 minutes on my treadmill... we'll see. :)
