Fun weekend... busy making crochet bracelets with my girls.

Also achieved a personal goal that I will share more about tomorrow in my FitProgress update.

Had a higher healthy carb cycling day Friday... went well I think. Didn’t even go that high. But then Saturday a bad high carb day. Not sure if triggered by Friday or not. I honestly don’t think so, but maybe a little? I was normally aiming for Sunday’s as my higher healthy carb day then right back into the groove on Monday... so not sure.

But Saturday was different. Started with getting a few groceries and my youngest asking for a pop, it’s been a while so I got us all one. Boom! Keto carb total zapped up and then some in one pop. That led to finishing my instant French Vanilla coffee I had stashed... but all gone now. :( :) :( and just not the best food choices. Maybe I needed a tiny reboot day. It could have been much worse... so not beating myself up too much :)

BUT... sugar is so not my friend. I feel slightly hungover today, I was short tempered yesterday, and my guts wreaked havoc on me. And I did poorly with my water intake too.

Time to get back on track.

Weight wise, no real alarming side effects, but regardless... looks like I’m headed to no loss and maintaining this week. Better than 5 lbs up... ;)

    Thanks for sharing. I never thought about sugar causing bad moods or headaches. I will pay closer attention to that now.

    I've found that sometimes when I eat/drink sugary foods, I want more of them. They are trigger foods for me.

    Life happens. Some good some bad. I have been off sugar for a while so even a diet Coke tastes too sweet for me. I see several good things here....you had a fun day with your girls, most importantly...& your French vanilla coffee is gone now!

    Probably... but not necessarily in the way you think... It's not necessarily a mind thing, but a body thing... could be a physical sign that your carb-tolerance isn't what you'd like it to be (able to tolerate a higher-carb day without triggering any backlash), and it may also be a sign that while you can get into and stay in ketosis you're not solidly keto-adapted.

    See, likely your higher-carb day on Friday raised your glucose/glycogen levels (and your BG), while it dropped your ketone production/burning (because your body had to deal with the carbs which also limited fuel available from fat), so when you drank the pop on Saturday, you spiked your blood glucose dramatically and completely tanked your ketone burning/production... because your body now has the message that carbs are back for fuel... but then your body drives you keep the carbs coming (the pop is especially bad because the fructose has to be metabolized exclusively in the liver and the liver can't metabolize fructose and convert fat to ketones at the same time).

    ...and now while you keep the carbs low, you get to have carb-flu while your body slowly uses up the glycogen and replenishes your ketone reserves... they never come back up as quickly as they drop, unless you are really solidly keto adapted... and keto-adaptation can take anywhere from months/years, depending on your own metabolic quirks. The quickest way to deplete glycogen is exercise (muscles, not cardio). The quickest way to raise ketone levels while depleting glycogen levels is to fast.

    We all like to think that we decide our carb-levels based on our food preferences, but really, it's our body that decides based on its response to carbs, its level of insulin/leptin resistance, and a myriad of other metabolic factors.

    What you do have going for you is your great attitude, and a solid plan/approach. You've got this!
