I read a Weight Watchers article yesterday about setting goals for success. I immediately remembered that I had read a similar article on Spark People years back. Must be something to it....
I was reminded to set specific goals. A person is more likely to follow through with them. Remember to be realistic; I know I will never be a runner. Frame my goals as behaviors that I want to do, instead of the ones I don't want to do. Start with no more than two goals per week.
The most important point really resonated with me. Choose a goal that I can reach in a finite length of time. Assess my progress at least once a week. I can honestly say that I don't think I reviewed a goal once a week. If I get into this habit, I believe I can accomplish more of what I truly want to accomplish.
First goal: revamp my exercising. Change it up. I started this morning.
Second goal: find ways to get more active with others.
Next Saturday I will sit and review.
