Relief... and frustration

Wednesday, April 04, 2018

So, I had my follow up appointment with the doctor after my ultrasound and she said that there are 3 cysts that could be causing me the pain, but there is no indication of cancer at this time. I am scheduled for my mammogram in July, so they will compare pictures again then to see if anything has changed, but just as a precaution... not because they suspect a problem or issue. Due diligence and all that. In the meantime, I still have the pain. I can’t take ibuprofen, due to the fact that I am on warfarin, and it is contraindicated, so I make do with Tylenol, but I have to be sparing with that due to another medication I am on... oy! My bursitis is also really bad right now. Bad enough that I have taken to sleeping in my recliner, because I am a side sleeper, and it hurts too much to sleep on my side (as in, if I try, I end up not sleeping at all)... but I have an appointment already set up to get a steroid injection on the 25th of this month... which is pretty much as soon as my insurance will approve of it. So, it is mostly good, or potentially okay news on the medical front... I am not letting the pain stop me from me walks and runs. I make sure that I wear the appropriate support garment for the one pain... and the other pain is in my shoulder, not my legs or back... sometimes it radiates, but for the most part if I don’t hold my shoulders too tense, or swing my arms much it’s okay... My frustration is with the weather... it is April and today we are under a snow watch! Ack! It’s supposed to start around 8am and go until about 9 or 10pm... I know it is just one day... but I am so tired of snow and ice! Especially ice... I have managed not to fall yet this year, and I would like to keep that record intact! Add in some high winds and it should be an “interesting” day weather-wise. Bleh. Oh well... tomorrow is another day!

Excellent news on the no cancer front - bad news for the pain. Hope the steroid injections help. Have you had them before (I haven’t, but a lot of my patients did)

Oh, I am so grateful for the good news. Wishing you relief, friend. Does heat therapy or gentle massage make any difference at all?

Hi!!! Cysts DO hurt!! Went thru that scare myself, not sure if u remember. The Dr told me 90% of them are not cancer(my Mom died from breast cancer). He told me I stop ??? I think it was drinking so much milk(can google and find out,,sorry memory)???? He assured me in 6-9 months the pain would be less. It was. Its now just a memory,,,,hopefully yours will be to.

For the bursitis,,,,, this hurts wicked bad,,,,at first, but ahhhh the relief is immediate. Plus I personally,,,and each of decides for ourselves,,,,,I lay on the floor,,,,is deways(yup!!! PAIN) and very, very slowly roll back and forth, side to side. At first you may wish to really limit doing it, but a few hrs may wish to do it again. I'd though at first not do much perday, but for me at once I got relief that night. After the first 3 days,,,ahhhh no pain. I do it now when I first notice it getting painful again.

Of course,,,as said its a personal decision and noooooo one should ever say what we decide is right, wrong. Its our bodies.

Took less pain no matter how it happens.

Glad that the u/s showed cysts and no cancer. On the other hand bummers totally on the pain. BTDT. But just hand in there. I know, easier said than done. I am sure that you are on pins-n-needles for the July followup mammo. Wishing you luck.

So sorry to hear about your bursitis as well. I am sure THAT appointment for the steroid injection can’t come soon enough for you.

Share your weather frustration. 5 in. of wet, heavy snow sitting on the ground. Mother Nature is just plain rude.

Icy, too so not doing much outdoor walking. Can’t take the chance of falling.
