Family Made for an Extraordinary Easter Again
Monday, April 02, 2018
For the first time, one of my girls had an Easter birthday. My Sherry turned 36 yesterday. Both Sherry and Sarah, as well as my Helena, are my miracles from God. I am reminded of this every day, but it seems to sink in more on Sundays at church.
I told Helena that on my way to her house, I saw a bad accident between a car and a rabbit. She had this questioning look on her face, so I quickly told her "April Fool!" Sherry said, "Oh, yeah, I forgot it was April Fool's Day." It's only been her birthday all her life!
We made the traditional bunny cake that my Mom made every year. It's a sweet memory for us and we know she is always with us as we do this. We didn't have a "6" candle, so it was a 3, then a 5 and a 1. Sherry kept saying how old she felt. I reminded her that I did tell her to quit counting at 24, but do our children always listen? When I think of my age, I must say that I come up with 2 figures: 1 for my mental age (which is young) and 1 for my age that my body feels (which is most often old). In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter anyway.
After cake and presents, I gave Helena a bath and we brought her back with us for the night. Tim told her that he needed her help. They went into her bedroom and came back out into the kitchen. He got down on his knee and they asked me to marry him. Expected, but not expected. How wonderful that my granddaughter and my boyfriend asked me together. Of course, I said yes. Of course, I have my flower girl.
I am so blessed that my family is always there for me together.
