Steps to Self Care

If I post these, maybe I will follow them better.
If it feels wrong, don't do it.
Say exactly what you mean. No more beating around the bush or biting my tongue.
Don't be a people pleaser. Growing up Catholic, I believe the nuns scared me into this.
Trust your instincts. This became so much easier after having my girls.
Never speak bad about yourself. A hard one for me still.
Don't be afraid to say no or yes. Improving, but still working on it.
Be kind to yourself. The older I get, the more I realize I didn't do this when I was younger. My back and knees and stomach remind me of this all the time.
Let go of what you can't control. The Serenity Prayer was my mantra for a LONG time. I am better. I can't control what others think or feel or do. So...no more wasting energy on it.
Stay away from drama and negativity as much as possible. I have close relatives who would win Oscars. They are in Michigan; I am in Alabama. This is working for me.
I learned much of this the hard way. Pay attention and avoid some of what I went through. Please.
