A Day Behind

Thursday, March 15, 2018

Somehow I've ended up a day behind the group reading and today will be busy, so I might fall 2 days behind. But it is okay. I'll do the days in order and I will get there. Perhaps I'll get back on track on days that are easy for me, like dealing with alcohol which I rarely, rarely do. I am sitting to eat, eating mindfully, giving myself credit, and reading my advantages card.

Today is St Patrick's at Senior Dance and I've got on my green - a plain green shirt and a navy scarf with bright green shamrocks that my dad bought for me in Ireland years ago. Just right for the dance!

My faithful readers probably want to know what I thought of the horseraces yesterday. It was just as much fun as I had anticipated! The horses were beautiful. I loved to see the difference between their warm ups and the races when they seemed to almost fly near the ground. They seemed a lot faster than they look on TV. No, we didn't win any bets. Hubby and I did not win a penny, although we bet in 5 races, we didn't bet much. It was worth it because we had a lot of fun for sure. The woman we went with bet on the favorite in one race and he came through with about 8 lengths' lead. She won 40 cents on a $2 bet. That was her total winnings. The fellow who had owned horses years ago won an exacto box that paid $38 but he did not quite break even. I suspect that is about par for the course. We set in the shaded grand stand. I walked out in the sun near the horses once just to see them close. Great view. Our weather was cool (okay, it was mid-60's but I get cold easily) and I shivered some of the time despite my jacket and gloves. (We had the warmest February ever with high 80s much of the time, but March has been below seasonal averages.) Glad we went, although I don't have a strong desire to go again.

I'm off to the first dance of the day. I'll have kids after school, some homework help, Gwen's piano lesson, some errands, and a dance this evening. I plan to do good eating. Hope you have a great day, too!

Awesome, glad you enjoyed the races! As my sister raised Morgan horses as soon as she married a farmer, I have known the beauty of the animals. Even got to see one being born!
I bought a green T-shirt for St. Patrick's Day, but forgot it at Mom's emoticon I have nothing much green except my football team hoodie. The T was a cartoon of Marmaduke with the caption 'you lucky dog'
Sounds like a great day for you!
Due to an accident to my scale, I am on day 1 of intuitive eating. As my weight has been rock steady for a long time, perhaps this was the kick I needed to get it going. Got to graduate to the big leagues sooner or later and let go the crutch.

So glad you had fun at the races!! Horses ARE beautiful (and fit!! and eat healthy!!)

And I bet you looked very cute for your dance!!

No worries about the Beck pace -- you know how long you want/need to spend at each stage, you're a Bexpert!!

Fun day at the races !!

So cool you have something your dad brought back to you, shamrocks from Ireland no less:)

That is a good plan, keep going, don't worry if you are a day or two behind, very possible to catch up on the easy days, but not to worry, just go the trek until you get there.

Glad you enjoyed your outing at the horse races. I think I've been twice. The horses are beautiful.

Enjoy your dances and your day. And, you are right. You will get there. Keep on trekking ...

Glad you were entertained! Those of us who are not gamblers pretty much go once and are done. Like you, mom and I never went back, although it was a good time for an afternoon's outing, just not something we would invest a lot of time in!

You've got the Beck attitude right, just keep going through in order, at your own pace... you've done Beck before, so you know the drill! Have a great today!

Not a gambler either, but I think it would be fun to watch the horse races. I think I would like the Quarter House races they have down in New Mexico I have heard about. Your dances sound like loads of fun! I am wishing they had something similar here. But finding time to do it regularly would still be a problem.

Being a day behind is okay. Sometimes our pace is different. What is important is moving forward and that, my dear, I know you shall do.
