Somethings New

Wednesday, March 14, 2018

Today is the only day this week we have no child care obligations, so my husband arranged something he's been wanting to do for years: going to thoroughbred racing. I'm not much of a gambler and really didn't care much one way or another, but now I'm getting excited. the couple we area going with knows all about it as the man used to own horses. Should be fun -- another world or at least an experience I don't have every day.

Last eve hubby and I went to our first Button and Bows twice monthly square dance event; we joined the big group after more than a year of lessons! Yes, there were times I was lost and somewhat embarrassed but kind people helped us. We did mainstream tips and two step round dances level 2. I suspect we will often go on the second and fourth Tuesday evenings.

Beck Day 13 is all about cravings. The book in this case is much more thorough and helpful than the workbook. I realize that I use a lot of this material just naturally now, but it is good to review it all.

Hope you have a good day and try something new, too!

Many years ago I went square dancing and found it to be fun. The people were nice and very helpful. Hope you have fun at the track!

Square dancing is fun. We tried it years ago. It was quite popular around here. I haven't heard of any groups lately though.

I'm sure you enjoyed the races.

Great way to keep moving and do things with your husband! I’ll be interested to hear how the races went.

Glad you had a good time @ the square dance. Hope you enjoy the race. I have to admit it wouldn't be my "thing" either.

That is awesome, glad you did fine with your first effort at a square dance.
I went to horse racing with the Probus club -it included dinner. I didn't bet at all, just enjoyed watching the horses and seeing how the people who did bet in our group did. The second time I did place a bet and it reminded of why I don't gamble because I never win and hate wasting money. Enjoy yourself!

I hope you enjoy your outing to the track as much as I did the one and only time I went. I went with my mom, when I was barely old enough to place a wager. We broke even, covering lunch and parking with our "winnings", and counted it a great day.

And I know already you have a great time with the square dancing, so hope that continues to entertain you as a couple as the years go on.

Square dancing is fun. Hubby and I used to belong to a group decades ago. A change in work schedules prevented us from continuing. I'd need to be taught all over again.

Enjoy the races. Family members had some retired race horses in their herds. Like you, I don't care to gamble. But, I do like watching the horses run.

Square dancing is fun. I did it years ago. I don't remember any of it anymore, but imagine I could pick it up quickly. It's excellent exercise - the kind I like best - I don't realize I'm exercising because it is so much fun.

And have a great time at the races. I've also been. Not my cup of tea, but a change of pace is always welcome and the worst case is you spend a day outside with friends that you like.
