Gratitude is the Attitude I Choose

Wednesday, March 14, 2018

Regardless of the situation, I have a choice for how i think and feel and behave. Gratitude is the choice I make. There are times that are tough, that is all part of the life on life's terms thing. However, I can make a choice to be grateful for what is happening, even when it is difficult.

It took me a couple days to realize I was being really grumpy because I pulled a groin muscle on Saturday and can't immediately jump right back in to where I was in my step work out or my movement. (I see it less as "exercise" and more as the way I live). Then I realized, sometimes my Higher Power wants me to slow down a little, be a bit less obsessive, and focus on the things around me.

Like, I have two days off the work week this week for Spring Break (which hasn't happened in the last ten years), so I have more time with my daughter. I can go see my mom if I choose. I can clean a corner of my living room the way I really want it. I can spend time with friends at meetings and after. I can embrace the moment and feel gratitude!!

So today, I am back on track and grateful. It's a glorious day, isn't it?

This is the way to think. Sometimes God wants us to rest. He has a plan for each of us in His own time and I trust that His timing is always perfect.

I firmly believe that it's important to sometimes slow down a bit. On Wednesday's I usually go to the gym for Life Barre but I just didn't want to do that today. Instead I've done a Leslie Sansome tape, some yoga and I have a short strength training routine that I will do after breakfast. And later I will take Daisy on a walk - I'm sure we'll hit a lot of puddles today. This way I do get my activity in but I will not be pushing myself quite so hard!

And how wonderful for you to have a couple of extra days for yourself. Enjoy them!
