BDS: Day 14-- Plan for Tomorrow

I feel the irony of this day's recommendation because I am a person who does plan in almost every other aspect of my life. Except when it comes to what I eat. I am left scratching my head and wondering why that is so. I guess, eating seems to me to be somewhat of a spontaneous effort so to plan it takes some of the joy and pleasure out of it. Well, I would be the first person to say that if you don't plan some things then you are left with a real 'mess' and a lot of unwanted chaos in your life. I guess, this is one of those paradoxes in my life but one that I acknowledge I need to take more heed with. Dr. Beck, you got me on this one!

Over the years I have conversed with many successful 'dieters' and believe it or not this was one of the things they did not leave to chance. I remember one of the first persons I ever met who had successfully lost over 100 lbs. (her username was Rockin' Robin) and she went on to describe how she divided up her food into baggies and even carried some of her snacks in her purse. At the time, this was over ten years ago, this seemed to be unheard of. I thought 'boy, my life gets to that kind of micro-managing, just shake me and wake me up' I was wrong then. She did successfully lose a lot of weight and one of her trademarks 'victories' was she shared a photo of her wearing a pair of jeans she wore in high school (she was a Mom of three).

So, starting tomorrow I am going to start pre-planning my meals. Is this something that I want to do? No, it is not. Is it something worth trying and see how it works? Yes, I do think it is a worthwhile task or skill to utilize. Can I admit that I was wrong? Well, let's see how this works out but if it does and it produces better results than in my past efforts, I will be the first one to admit that I was wrong and she was right.
